Computer-aided Design (CAD) for Additive and Subtractive Manufacturing Certificate
This eight-credit certificate program covers manufacturing systems utilized in the additive and subtractive manufacturing fields. Students will gain hands-on experience developing computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programs for Haas computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Rapid prototyping will be covered via 3D printing systems and reverse engineering through the use of 3D scanning will be explored. At the end of the program students will have a strong foundation in real-world CAD, problem solving, additive manufacturing skills and hands-on fabrication techniques.
This 12-credit certificate program provides a well-rounded education to prospective engineers and technicians who are interested in composite materials, their manufacturing process and application. Students will be introduced to the analysis of composite materials along with hands-on experience in composite manufacturing. Mold fabrication and adhesive bonding of composites and metals, which is an integral part of composite manufacturing will also be reviewed. Finally, students will be exposed to the most common and latest non-destructive inspection (NDI) equipment, methods and techniques used in the field of composite inspection.
