As the end of the summer approaches, so does the commencement of new student orientation. The series of events is dedicated to supporting new students in their educational journey at the College and is designed to help a student transition successfully to the community and become acquainted with campus resources and academics.

The safety and well-being of students has always been Vaughn’s top priority. As a result, the newly, revamped peer-to-peer sessions will be separated by individual programs, held every Friday in August. The smaller group sized orientation sessions allow students to connect more efficiently to their peers and actively engage with one another and build personal relationships.

Following the in-person experience, the second part of orientation will take place on the College’s learning management platform, D2L. During this portion of the event, students will meet their faculty and department chairs who will help familiarize them to course work and academic expectations followed by a parent and family session.

“Orientation introduces students to the transformative education received at Vaughn and provides students with the opportunity to meet future classmates and faculty,” expressed Sarah Tsang, assistant director of student activities. “After the unprecedented experiences of the pandemic, we’ve designed our orientation program to bring back new students to campus in small groups. Building these meaningful connections and creating a sense of belonging with their peers and faculty increases a student’s academic and social success.”

Orientation is the beginning of many milestones that a student will have at Vaughn as they build their unique collegiate network of friends and future colleagues. The first session on Friday, August 6 will focus on the Aviation programs. The Vaugh Community looks forward to welcoming all our newest Warriors at Orientation!
