President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo invited Zonta Club of Long Island members to a membership meeting at Vaughn College where attendees discussed women and minority empowerment on Saturday, March 10.

Zonta members were taken on a tour by student chapters of Women in Aviation, Society of Women Engineers and National Society of Black Engineers. Members were shown the campus including the 3D printing labs, the  tower and given information on the curriculum that Vaughn offers and how it’s help the College gain the ranking of #1 in upward mobility.

Emerson Allen, adjunct professor, spoke to attendees on the importance of more women roles in the aviation and engineering industries. “Women have come a long way in the industry but the battle still continues,” he said.

The event closed with a student led panel of Debra Cassidy ’21, Nada Nessim ’18, Kirei Watson ’19 and Emily German ’18 who spoke on student achievements and activity at the College.
