The Vaughn College Robotics Team (VCAT) hosted teams from the Tri-State area, Massachusetts and Mexico for the VEX U robotics tournament on Sunday, February 13. The event took place in Vaughn’s Hangar.

VEX U competitions provide students opportunities to apply theoretical STEM knowledge they learn in their college courses, while picking-up many of the academic and life skills necessary to excel in the workforce.

VCAT was awarded the excellence award, the highest honor bestowed at a VEX U robotics tournament, along with the robotics skills champion, which is awarded to the team with the highest combined top programming and top driving skills challenge score. Ultimately, Completely Legal from East Bridgewater, Massachusetts was crowned tournament champions for this event. NJIT Highlanders from Newark, New Jersey earned the design award and Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s team, Hyperdrive, achieved the sportsmanship award.

VCAT has already qualified for the 2022 VEX U World robotics competition which is scheduled to be held from May 2 through May 4 in Dallas, Texas.
