On Thursday, April 28, students, faculty and families gathered in person at the brand-new West Wing Cafeteria and on Zoom to launch the start of the commencement season. The celebratory toast began with a tribute slideshow featuring the graduating class of 2022 and an introduction by Elaine T. White, assistant vice president and dean of students, who welcomed students and other attendees.

Followed was a toast by the College’s President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo, who urged students that the relationships they have built, the support they’ve received and the network of colleagues and professional advisers continues on even after their departure from Vaughn.

Peter Vaughn, board of trustees chair, also congratulated students and encouraged them to make the world a better place and wish them much success.

Sarah Tsang, director of student success and graduation initiatives, officially welcomed the graduation candidates into the vast network of the College’s alumni.

The event continued with toasts from other faculty, staff, students and the president of the College’s robotics club, Misael Marquez ’22

The series of commencement events continues with the Honors Convocation on Wednesday, May 11. The event will be held in the lobby and will be streamed virtually for those who cannot attend.
