In recognition of Black History Month, NASA hosted a virtual Q and A to celebrate the distinguished accomplishments in STEM of Astronaut Stephanie Wilson on Tuesday, March 9. Students were able to participate by utilizing the live chat to ask Wilson questions directly.

Wilson is an engineer and a veteran of three spaceflights, STS-121 in 2006, STS-120 in 2007, and STS-131 in 2010 and has logged more than 42 days in space. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from Harvard University in 1988.

She is the second African-American woman to travel into space, following Dr. Mae Jemison. Wilson is currently among 18 astronauts training for the Artemis program, which will send the first woman and next man to the Moon.
