Undeterred by Thursday’s snowstorm, more than a dozen Vaughn College student-volunteers assisted at a prestigious state-of-the-airports conference in Lower Manhattan.

The conference, titled “Upgrading to World Class: The Future of the New York Region’s Airports” featured influential transportation executives Christopher Ward, executive director of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Elliot Sander, former chief executive of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority; New York City Deputy Mayor Robert K. Steel; members of the Regional Plan Association; and Vaughn College board member and Director of Aviation for The Port Authority Susan Baer.

The conference called for rapid implementation of NextGen air traffic control technologies and immediate planning for the expansion and reconfiguration of John F. Kennedy and Newark Liberty airports. Read the full conference report here.

Vaughn students assisted in pre-conference preparation, on-site photography and more.
