Vaughn College’s Robotics team continue to prepare for their return to the VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. The team has competed throughout the fall and spring semesters and consistently placed highly in scrimmage matches and especially in recent competitions.

Both teams VCAT and VCAT2 have qualified for the championship tournament and plan to take first place in this year’s “In The Zone” challenge. After placing in the top two teams in the West Virginia VEX U Regional Qualifier VCAT2 was awarded the finalists and robot skills award for their robotics design. While team VCAT2 placed third in the 2017 championship, the members have taken the experience and have adapted newer designs this year.

This season the teams have a collective of four robots in consideration for the world championship. Engineering and Technology Department Chair Dr. Hossein Rahemi mentors the team and provides support to both teams.

The 2018 World VEX Robotics World Championship will be on April 25, 2018. Check the VEX U events page for more info.
