Faculty, staff and students welcomed Melvyn Heard, president of General Electric (GE) Passport and executive vice president of GE Honda Aero Engines Programs, to campus. The event was moderated by Matthan Mbanefo ’25, mechatronic engineering student and current president of Vaughn’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers. Heard spoke about the career path which led him to GE Aerospace, his experiences of being a mechanical engineer, how curiosity continues to drive his passion for engineering, the most challenging and fun aspects of his job, and offered career advice to students.
