The LGA Redevelopment sponsored camp held at the Queens Public Library, taught by Cradle of Aviation staff and sponsored by Delta and LGA Gateway Partners was hosted by the College in July.

The event was a graduation ceremony for students who participated in this year’s Summer Stem Program. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey hosts an annual summer STEM program for students from the communities that surround LaGuardia Airport and are entering the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. This year’s program featured in-person lessons for 50 students. The lessons were led by instructors from the Cradle of Aviation museum and featured lessons such as making water rockets, hydroponics, dart airplanes and hot air balloons. More than 100 individuals attended the summer graduation hosted at the College.
“It felt fitting to utilize Vaughn’s facilities to host and really impress upon the students the importance of what they achieved and demonstrate how an interest in STEM can be pursued and can lead to a career that is both fun and rewarding,” expressed John Vicinanza, senior external relations client representative for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
