On Thursday, March 16, 200 students filled the hangar to attend Vaughn’s spring career fair hosted by the office of career services. More than 30 employer companies were present at the event, offering students information about internship and career opportunities available to them now and in the near future. Among the companies in attendance were JetBlue, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Lufthansa, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, LaGuardia Gateway Partners, Offshore Wind Jobs and Marotta Controls.

“Marotta Controls has a long history with Vaughn College. Several of the Marotta family members have attended Vaughn and worked with the students here, so we’ve certainly had a lot of success supporting the College,” said Kevin Tripp, technical recruiter at Marotta. “We recently had a tour group of Vaughn students visiting Marotta as well so we’re very happy to be here and looking forward to meeting future engineers and technicians alike.” Thomas Marotta, retired president and CEO of Marotta, served on Vaughn’s board of trustees for more than two decades. Patrick’s grandson, current president and CEO, serves on Vaughn’s President’s Advisory Council.

Chaundra Daniels, director of career services, was very happy with the turnout and the number of students who attended and engaged with the employers. “I am passionate about the world of work,” says Daniels. “My goal is to help every student prepare for a job, excel at the interview and succeed once they are employed.” The office of career services will host another career fair in the fall semester.
