Vaughn Hosts Annual Guidance Counselor Event
Over 50 guidance and college counselors attended an informational reception on Thursday, March 20 to hear the latest news from Vaughn College. Representatives from 23 schools received information about the College’s degrees and programs, and took a campus tour that included a visit to the residence hall and the flight simulator laboratory.
President Dr. John Fitzpatrick opened the event with a welcome to new attendees and familiar faces and referenced the exciting events happening at Vaughn stemming from the advancement of the College’s strategic vision.
Counselors came from nearby New York high schools such as Bronxdale and Thomas A. Edison and from Westhill High School in Stamford, CT, eager for a preview of what the College had to offer.
“I have come to this event for quite a few years and I’m happy to say that every year, I learn about a new program offering, which is a credit to Vaughn,” said Cathy McAllister, of Holy Cross High School in Flushing, NY.
Ernie Shepelsky, vice president of enrollment services, delivered a media presentation while faculty members and admissions counselors mingled with attendees and were on hand to answer questions. Counselors were also treated to a demonstration by the members of Vaughn’s award-winning robotics club during the event.
