On Friday, December 7 The Vaughn College Assessment Committee hosted the second annual assessment day for faculty and staff members to share findings from all college departments as they self-evaluate for the purposes of continuous improvement. This event improved on the informational and engaging activities from the previous year and functioned as another system of checks and balances for moving forward with revising assessment strategies.

“It is through these efforts to ensure and improve quality of curricular and co-curricular operations and the student experience that we demonstrate our college mission,” remarked Rebekah Chow, director of Institutional Assessment.

Guest speaker, Linda Suskie, former vice president of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education opened the day, which led into a round table discussion where attendees deliberated on goals and outcomes.

“Effective assessment will help you make better decisions with goals, curriculum, teaching methods and resource allocations,” advised Suskie. “I find it’s best to keep it useful and simple.”

For a fun and competitive addition to the list of events the committee added the game of “Speed Data-ing,” utilizing a different approach to share how the College uses data to make improvements. The Vaughn community is dedicated to improving the educational experience for prospective and current students.
