Vaughn College’s assessment committee showcased department plans and results from its institutional effectiveness process on Assessment Day, held on Friday, December 1. The objective of the first annual assessment day was to share with the Vaughn community departmental goals and how they are evaluated to help achieve Vaughn’s mission.

The committee, co-chaired by Dr. Paul LaVergne, vice president of academic affairs, and Rebekah Chow, manager of institutional effectiveness was formed following the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) last year and assessments were standardized and evaluations and plans were made available through the MyVaughn portal to all faculty and staff leading up to this event.

This updated institutional effectiveness process elevates cross-departmental communication to meet the MSCHE compliance standards. Attendees viewed posters that displayed these assessments that use current data to make improvements.

The committee includes members from the following departments: Academic Support, Bursar, Management, IT, Aviation, ATI, Engineering and Technology, Writing Center, Student Affairs, Career Services, Finance, Arts and Sciences, Public Affairs, Registrar, Library, Career Development and Distance Learning.

Middle States will return to the College on Monday, March 26 to review the improved processes that has been established to encourage institutional effectiveness.
