Vaughn College welcomed over 40 employers to campus on Thursday in a show of thanks for their ongoing contributions to the College. After a welcome from Philip Meade, director of career services, the guests, who regularly work with Vaughn to provide internship and employment opportunities, were invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks while taking the time to talk to Vaughn staff, faculty members and colleagues about their experiences with Vaughn Students.

“Vaughn students are always very motivated. They’re dedicated, and I know they’re prepared to meet the challenges in the aviation industry when they leave the College,” said Steve Ferguson, assistant airport manager at Westchester County Airport.

“I’m always impressed by the professionalism I see in the students here,” added Georgette Sgarro, assistant air traffic manager for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). “I know the students who come from Vaughn are going to be assets to the FAA.”

In addition to employers, Vaughn alumni were in attendance, thanking those who helped them with their job search and sharing their experiences with others.

“My professors were very involved in both my internship and my job search,” said Laura Pompura, a class of 2012 alumna who is currently employed with Ventura Flight Training in Farmingdale. “I developed a lasting relationship with them and with my fellow interns. It was really a great experience.”
