On September 4 Vaughn College commenced welcome week for new and returning students on the first day of the fall 2018 semester. Vaughn President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo, Kathy Deaner, interim vice president of student affairs and Elaine White, dean of students gave welcome addresses to a crowd of eager students in the main lobby. President DeVivo read from a New York Times article providing advice on how to get the most out of College. Following her address, Elaine White introduced the new Student Government Association President Wole Barnarde ’22 who was sworn into office.

“We want to encourage students to be active in the community to enhance their student experience at Vaughn,” said Barnarde ’22. “I remember being a freshman and how interaction with my peers and community supplemented my college experience.”

To assist with students’ transition into their new academic environment, social events are being held all week to encourage engagement with each other including giant board games, an ice cream social and movie night in the residence hall.
