The first of two interactive open houses was held on Vaughn’s campus on November 14, 2015. More than 250 prospective students and their families were welcomed to Vaughn on a crisp autumn day.

The day began with a brief overview of the College followed by a video featuring current students talking about their experiences at conferences and competitions around the world, all supported by Vaughn College.

The program opened with a welcome from Ernie Shepelsky, vice president of enrollment services who then welcomed Vaughn’s president to the podium. “Today is a day to learn about what Vaughn College offers and find out if it is a good fit for you,” said President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo. “With our high placement rate, faculty who are invested in your success and the $45 million recently invested in campuswide upgrades, we hope you find that Vaughn is the right institution to help you achieve success in your educational endeavors.”

Academic sessions were held twice during the day to describe Vaughn’s programs in engineering and technology, management and aviation.  This provided the opportunity for attendees to hear from more than one department about potential programs of interest. Interactive experiences for each department followed the sessions.

Tours of the main campus and the aviation training institute in Astoria were also conducted throughout the day. Vaughn will hold a second fall open house on Saturday, November 21 at 10 a.m.
