Vaughn College Hosts Class of 1963 50th Reunion
Vaughn College hosted a 50th reunion luncheon for alumni from the class of 1963. The event took place on Wednesday, May 8 at the main campus. Representatives from the class came from the tristate area and from as far away as Maine and California. They came to reconnect with classmates and share experiences about their time at Vaughn and the careers they pursued after graduation.
The reunion was spearheaded by Felix Huertas, working in conjunction with Vaughn’s office of development and alumni affairs. Huertas was instrumental in taking the class list supplied by the office and spending time locating current contact information for the group.
“I was thrilled to be able to help make this event happen,” said Huertas. “It was wonderful to see these people again and share old stories about our time at the College.”
The alumni were welcomed by President John Fitzpatrick and Senior Vice President Dr. Sharon DeVivo and treated to a campus tour and simulator rides. Carlos Paez was elected by the group to give a presentation at the reunion reminding all about the good times they had studying at Vaughn and their achievements in and out of the classroom. The attendees were also on hand for the evening convocation ceremony to congratulate current Vaughn students who were receiving awards for academic excellence.
“The event was so successful, we’re planning on holding one annually moving forward,” said Amanda Talty, assistant vice president, development and alumni affairs.
