Gray skies didn’t stop more than 310 prospective students and their families from filling the William R. DeCota Hangar at Vaughn College for its Spring Open House on Saturday, April 13. Students from all over New York and as far as Connecticut and Virginia visited the College’s Flushing campus to hear about Vaughn’s futureproof degree programs in engineering, technology, management and aviation.

Welcome remarks from Vaughn College President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo and Associate Vice President of Enrollment Mr. Celso Alvarez introduced attendees to Vaughn’s academic programs, highlighted the student experience and explained Vaughn’s Futureproof Guarantee – the first of its kind, the Vaughn guarantee ensures that If an eligible student is not employed full time in their field of study one year after graduating, and conducting an active job search, Vaughn College will provide reimbursement for one year of the graduate’s federal Direct undergraduate student loan payments.

“Vaughn College is here to help you as you learn and as you continue to grow after graduation,” said Alvarez. “Our office of career services offers assistance to you as you transition into professional life, and throughout your life should you need it.”

Students and their families were split into areas of interest and met with faculty from the various academic programs. They toured the campus, residence hall and library and visited Vaughn’s million-dollar flight and air traffic control simulator labs.

Student representatives from athletic teams, clubs and professional organizations and the College’s student veterans organization were on-hand to meet with attendees. After learning about Vaughn’s academics, students and their families were invited to meet with admissions and financial aid representatives, to better understand the application process and have their questions answered. Students who applied at the open house had their application fee waived.

Vaughn will hold its next open house events in the fall on Saturday, November 9 and 16. For information on Vaughn College, visit www.vaughn.edu/admissions or contact an admissions counselor at .
