The Vaughn College chapter of Women in Aviation International’s (WAI) second annual Powerful Women’s Luncheon was held on Thursday, March 30 in rooms E101 and E103. Partnering with the International Aviation Women’s Association (IAWA), a panel of seven professional women involved in the aviation industry came to talk to the Vaughn community.

More than 75 attendees came to hear from and speak to Vice President of Operations at JFK Airport Susan Cunha, Program Director for the AeroStars Kim McCommon, Aviation Attorney Alina Nassar, Vice-Chairwoman of Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals Carol Hopson, Aviation Litigation Attorney Kathleen M. Guilfoyle, President of Ellyn Slow Consulting Ellyn Slow and former Boeing Vice President Anne Kristine Fellrath. Each panelist spoke about her professional background and the floor was then opened for students to ask questions.

“March is women’s history month, and we wanted to celebrate powerful women,” said Daniela Tabares ’18, president of the Vaughn chapter of WAI. “Overall, we hope the students were able to get some of their questions answered. Getting to meet women who are working in the industry will really help them as they begin their professional journey.”
