Vaughn College professor Mudassar Minhas was invited by the Ministry of Economy to the 2013 Green Economy Connect event in Dubai, India in March. The event, hosted by professor Walid Hejazi of the University of Toronto, allowed representatives from Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), a consortium of public technology colleges, to gather and attend lectures on subjects ranging from the implementation of new technologies in an effort to lessen reliance on fossil fuels to the requirements of achieving the goals of a green economy. Concept cars from several colleges, which run on either electric or solar energy, were also on display.

“This conference was a great learning experience,” said Minhas. “It was a great opportunity to explore new technological advances we may be able to implement at Vaughn in the future.”

Key attendees included Sheikh Majid bin Mohammad bin Rashid al-Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Nesrin Safar, director of the Dubai Society for Medium Entrepreneurs Program.
