The management department began their speaker series for the spring semester with Michel Ajjan, account manager at Lufthansa Group. With more than 130,000 employees, the Lufthansa Group is an aviation group with operations worldwide.

Ajjan’s career experience expands over the course of airport operations, management and customer experience initiatives.

The presentation gave an overview of outlooks for careers in the aviation industry, global elements that may affect the industry and what the re-implementation of supersonic boom with sustainable efforts would mean for the future of aviation.

Ajjan also touched upon current events and the impact of situations like the coronavirus have on airport operations. It was concluded that consumers are willing to adapt their behaviors to maximize value.

Vaughn Alumna Emily Shyu ’14 accompanied Ajjan to give insight to students about her role as a supervisor for aviation customer experience at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The management speaker series will continue with Shelley LaRose, commissioner of aviation and transportation at MacArthur Airport and Bayport Aerodrome on March 20, 2020 in Room E101.
