On Friday, March 18, the College welcomed Kyle Chang, co-founder of the Aviation Enthusiast Club on Clubhouse, a social media audio app founded in 2019 with the original goal of being a podcast platform. The app quickly transformed into audio chat rooms that can accommodate thousands of people discussing hundreds of different topics. Clubhouse exploded in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since continued to grow users monthly.

Chang’s presentation discussed the origins of the app and how to utilize the platform. He touched on what is discussed in his Aviation Enthusiast Club, including inviting pilots to talk about their experiences in the aviation industry. Chang mentioned that Clubhouse involves plenty of interaction and is more of a discussion platform where users are free to ask speakers questions. Chang also introduced other Clubhouse rooms that may be of interest to Vaughn students including drone and aerospace forums.

At the end of the event, students and faculty had the opportunity to ask Chang questions regarding Clubhouse and other aviation related issues. The next speaker series will take place on April 6, and will feature Michael Zonsius, chief financial officer for Albany Airport.
