Vaughn welcomed John Brogan, president and chief executive officer of United States Aircraft Insurance Group (USAIG), on Wednesday, April 7. Established in 1928, USAIG is the leading insurance provider to all segments of the aviation and aerospace industry. The founders created the company with a unique structure designed to withstand the challenges that face the aviation insurance industry. USAIG is neither a single insurance company nor a corporation but a pool of member firms, all highly rated property and casualty insurance and reinsurance companies.

Brogan joined the company in 1997 and has over two decades of experience in aviation insurance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a masters of business administration degree in finance and risk management. Brogan is active in a wide range of aviation and insurance organizations and associations such as the Aviation Insurance Association’s Eagle Society, the Wings Club Board of Governors and the Air Charter Safety Foundation’s Executive Committee.

This session of the virtual speaker series focused on the benefits and opportunities of a career in aviation insurance and gave students insights into how to obtain a career in that field and the major power players in the industry. Careers in the aerospace insurance industry include professionals from a variety of disciplines such as underwriting, claims, legal, accounting and other fields.
