Doug Shoemaker, special agent-in-charge for the Northeast Region, manages all criminal investigations conducted by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the Department of Transportation throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New England and Delaware. His presentation focused on aviation fraud awareness and the investigative jurisdiction into any fraud that occurs on transportation construction projects receiving federal funds. Students were given insight to the knowledge needed to obtain a career as an OIG Special Agent. Shoemaker also highlighted the famous fraud investigations that set precedent for the laws in place today. More than 30 students interested in security, safety, and related fields joined to learn the complexities of aviation and human behavior.
