On Friday, March 15 the management department hosted John Allen, chief safety officer and vice president of JetBlue Airways Corporation to speak to the Vaughn community about “the emerging future of aviation safety.” Allen gave advice on how students should best utilize the College’s proximity to LaGuardia to establish relationships with airlines. He also remarked on the significance of networking with colleagues and peers in the industry.

Steven Jones, acting deputy regional administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration also addressed attendees. The presentation covered critiques on the advancements in autonomous air taxis in commercial space. Newer transportation services are running into issues with safety management systems and are looking towards industry professionals to help with these issues.

“Your skillset will apply to any of these fields that I’ve went over,” said Allen. “Be proud of your education here at Vaughn.”
