On Friday, March 3, the College welcomed Greg Principato, chief executive officer of the National Aeronautics Association (NAA) who has more than three decades of experience in the aviation industry.

Principato’s presentation focused on leadership and careers in aviation and the NAA and began with a brief history of the organization. He highlighted the importance of the Chicago Convention, which provided the framework for modern aviation and advised students that in his experience, engaging people and wondering why people think the way they do will benefit their career. He stressed the importance of avoiding speculating on aviation incidents when being questioned by the media and concluded his presentation by explaining how politics and policy can be positive for aviation.

Students and faculty asked several questions regarding aviation at the conclusion of the presentation, including the current state of the Federal Aviation Association, the ongoing pilot shortage and the influence media has on aviation.

Principato has previously served as the president and chief executive officer of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) and has worked with several United States legislators including senators and governors.
