Over 130 students and representatives from 20 companies filled the main lobby at Vaughn College on Thursday, December 5 for the fall internship fair, hosted by the career services department. At the event, Vaughn students were able to speak to potential employers from companies like Enterprise Holdings, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Southwest Airlines.

Brian Tong ‘11, manager of quality assurance at AAR Aircraft Component Services, was on campus as a first-time fair attendee, but spoke of his personal connection to the College.

“Vaughn students are great workers,” said Tong, a Vaughn alum. “I got my Airframe and Powerplant certificate here, and now I’m here to represent my company.”

In addition to aviation and engineering professionals, Vaughn students had the opportunity to speak to representatives from the New York Police Deparment and military personnel, including the United States Army and the Marine Corps.

“We find that Vaughn students are very mature, and have a lock on their goals,” says Sargent Philip Percesepe of the Marines. “They know how to use what they learn in their classes to succeed, and we like to see that kind of drive.”

The career services department will host a virtual career fair through Vaughn’s Career Connect website from January 21 to February 21, 2014, and a spring career fair on April 10, 2014. For more information, contact Jillian DiBlasi, internship coordinator at 718.429.6600, ext. 281.
