Dennis Jones, managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) spoke to Vaughn students about Leadership in Transportation Safety on Friday, December 7. The management department welcomed Jones as the next speaker in their guest speaker series and was met by an anxious crowd of people.

Jones recounted enduring NTSB safety training that was conducted while going through different countries, including climbing Mount Kenya and traversing through Sudan in 130 degree weather. He took time to detail the type of problem solving that went into a particular training in Bali, and also into an accident investigation in California that became a very unique experience for his team. Following the discussion Jones opened the floor to answer questions from students and other attendees.

“The most difficult part of these accidents was picking out the different pieces that didn’t fit and connecting it all together,” said Jones.
