Vaughn College hosted more than 200 junior high, high school and undergraduate students for a C/STEP Conference in the hangar complex on Saturday, March 10. Vaughn’s Upward Bound office and guest instructors held STEM and career preparation workshops throughout the day including anatomy, where students learned anatomy through dissecting frogs and sheep hearts. There also was a job readiness workshop that went over fundamentals of resume writing and interviewing skills.

“Early exposure to the STEM and licensed professional fields will encourage awareness to explore their career options,” said Nicole Legister, Assistant Director of STEP. “A lot of these students are underserved so it’s important to us to host events like these.”
