Position purpose
Teach undergraduate aviation students a variety of maintenance subjects, based upon the faculty member’s aviation licensing, experience and interests. Minimum qualification is a Master’s Degree, although a Bachelor’s Degree may suffice if the applicant has full FAA licensing in the aviation maintenance field, and extensive experience in the field, either commercial or military. Subjects include: Quality Management ISO-9000, Human Factors in Maintenance, gas turbine engines, avionics, as well as many more.

Position purpose
Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the Engineering Technology Departments (Master candidates will be considered as non-tenure track). The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Computer Science programs and this candidate will assist department with the development and implementation process of curriculum and courses in a BS in Applied Mathematics, Control Systems, and Automation. Candidates must possess a broad professional background in order to support and expand a wide variety of departmental foundation courses and sub-disciplinary elective offerings in both engineering and computer science.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Having experience in curriculum development, and experience training faculty in curriculum methodology and design.
- Developing courses in applied math discipline including mathematical modeling, computational mathematics, discrete mathematics, Control Systems, and numerical & computational methods.
- Assisting the HSI-STEM Project Director and STEM Pathways Advisor with student monitoring and work with the external evaluator to collect student data of program evaluation.
- Teaching undergraduate courses in Applied Math, Control Systems, and Automation.

Position purpose
Mentoring high school faculty as part of the New York State Education Department (NYSED)-funded Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) collaboration with Freeport Public Schools. This position is intended for current full-time or adjunct faculty at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks (due to COVID-19, some functions may be conducted virtually):
- Serving as a subject matter expert for a particular discipline. Mentor a faculty member at Freeport Public Schools during their design and implementation of a high-quality P-TECH cohort course. In some cases, the courses will be dual credit. In other cases, the courses will be preparatory activity for future college-level courses.

Position purpose
To support Vaughn’s flight degree programs by offering simulator instruction in support and under guidance of lab instructors in private and instrument areas.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Certify each student’s training record for tasks required for lab course completion are met
- Work with simulator lab manager to make sure that proper coursework is covered
- Ensure that each student accomplishes the required curriculum content for the school’s approved training course
- Report simulator discrepancies immediately to sim lab manger and fill out discrepancy reports
- Train new staff on use of simulators
- Maintain training techniques, procedures and standards for the school that are acceptable to the VP of Training in regards to flight training programs

The Instructor/ Chief Ground Instructor-Flight shall have the primary responsibility of teaching 12 credit hours minimum in aviation related courses including FAR Part 141 flight ground courses. This student centric position shall be responsible to deliver service excellence support to meet the needs of the college and industry community.
Essential Functions:
Under minimal supervision, manages the day-to-day operations:
- Provides instructions to students for the B.S. and A.A.S degree in Aircraft Operations-Pilots License with a concentration in Flight Education. Teaches a course load minimum of 12 credit hours per (Fall and Spring) semester.
- Chief Flight Instructor Maintains all FAA related records for the Part 141 flight training courses.
- A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential.

Position purpose
The Department of Aviation at Vaughn College in Queens, New York, is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time not to exceed 1,000-hour position as an Instructor of Practice that will begin on September 1, 2023. This position serves as an Instructor of Practice and must have a strong aviation background which includes the following FAA Licenses and/or ratings: Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor-Airplane (CFIA), Certified Flight Instructor -Instrument (CFII), and optional multi-Engine rating or Multi-Engine Instructor. This is a yearly non-tenured appointment.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Teach 3 credit hours per semester in aviation at the undergraduate level.
- Teach the Flight Simulator or LAB courses associated with assigned Lecture courses.
- Assist in the reviewing of flight students at our Part 141 Flight school.
- Conduct safety classes as required.
- Assist in the scheduling of flight students in the sim Lab.
- Conduct flight training at our Part 141 school for students with VA approval.
- Will be required to help with academic advising, assisting with planning, development, and revision of flight and ground school curricula.
