Engineering About Gears Logo

The associate in applied sciences (AAS) electronic engineering technology: avionics degree program provides the necessary technical foundation to prepare graduates for entry level employment in the field of electronic technology and related technologies. It also provides the foundation and ability to transfer to baccalaureate-level technology programs. Avionics encompasses electronic communication, navigation, radar, surveillance, and flight control systems. These systems have become complex, integrated and computer controlled.

This is a two-year college degree that is career oriented and designed to give the student all the expertise necessary to enter the workforce in entry level positions upon completion.

After this program is completed, students can either continue on in the College’s Bachelor of Science degree programs in engineering or engineering technology (by taking some additional courses), or transfer to other colleges or universities. In addition, this program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Vaughn College’s career services department employs a variety of tools to assist students and alumni in their development as professionals. The department meets and communicates with individuals through appointments, e-mail and phone conversations, providing information, editing and reviewing resumes and helping with the job and internship search process. It implements weekly workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills and job fair etiquette. It organizes job fairs in the fall and spring, each with 40-plus companies, and a graduate school fair in the winter.

The department also networks with companies on behalf of Vaughn students for job and internship opportunities. It manages a private job board website, Vaughn Career Connect, where students and alumni can post resumes and apply for positions. Employers registered on the site can post jobs as well as search and review student and alumni resumes for potential candidates for open positions.
