The Associates in Applied Sciences (AAS) degree in airport management is intended to prepare students to work in airports and related client businesses. Our location, adjacent to LaGuardia Airport, provides an excellent learning environment, and there are two additional major international airports: John F. Kennedy and Newark airports, and several regional airports in the tristate area, all of which require qualified personnel.

The AAS is a two-year college degree that is career oriented, and designed to give the graduate all the expertise necessary to enter the workforce in entry level positions upon completion, or to advance to a Bachelor of Science degree.

The general AAS airport management courses build on the skills derived from the arts and sciences foundation to prepare students in the various functional areas of aviation and business management—airport management, airport operations, aviation regulations, environmental issues, economics, accounting, finance, public relations and planning.

Vaughn College’s career services department employs a variety of tools to assist students and alumni in their development as professionals. The department meets and communicates with individuals through appointments, e-mail and phone conversations, providing information, editing and reviewing resumes and helping with the job and internship search process. It implements weekly workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills and job fair etiquette. It organizes job fairs in the fall and spring, each with 40-plus companies, and a graduate school fair in the winter.

The department also networks with companies on behalf of Vaughn students for job and internship opportunities. It manages a private job board website, Vaughn Career Connect, where students and alumni can post resumes and apply for positions. Employers registered on the site can post jobs as well as search and review student and alumni resumes for potential candidates for open positions.
