FEDERAL WORK STUDY
Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient’s course of study.
If you’re an undergraduate, you’re paid by the hour. No FWS student may be paid by commission or fee. The college must pay you directly (unless you direct the college to do otherwise) and at least monthly.
Wages for the federal work-study program must equal at least the current federal minimum wage but might be higher, depending on the type of work you do and the skills required. The amount you earn can’t exceed your total FWS award. When assigning work hours, your employer and financial aid counselor will consider your award amount, your class schedule, and your academic progress; student must maintain a cumulative GPA of no less than a 2.0 at the end of each semester.

Academic Success Assistant
Position purpose
Academic Success Assistants (ASA) perform administrative/clerical work for various units of the Division of Academic Success. They are assigned to offices and projects by the division’s executive assistant as needed.
Hours: Monday to Friday; scheduled around classes; occasional evenings.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- ASAs will have a number of different responsibilities, which may include:
- Staffing the College’s Zoom Front Desk; this includes being available on Zoom to answer questions, keeping apprised of common questions and answers and relaying guests questions and concerns to supervisors.
- Performing administrative tasks, including answering emails, organizing documents (physical and/or virtual), making phone calls and performing data entry.
- Performing research and data gathering projects as directed.
- Maintaining facilities, including the Academic Success Center pantry.

Position purpose
Provides support to the Athletic Administrator during all athletic programs. Assists athletic administration with daily office tasks which include filing, sorting, copying, organizing and delivering. Position purpose
The work study assistant to the Bursar office will assist with the daily duties and procedures associated with the Bursar office.

- Prepare bills and letters to be mailed to students;

- Assist the Office of Career Services with social media campaigns and creating video content.
- Help the office of career services research relevant materials and resources regarding career and professional development, networking, industry, and job guidance.
- Help the office of career services research new industries (skills in demand, job postings, companies) that present future career opportunities for Vaughn students and graduates.
- Assist the office of career services in searching for industry-related internships, PT, and FT entry-level positions for students and recent graduates.
- Update the current employer database and search for contacts in new industries such as Robotics, Automotive, Pharma, Supply Chain Management, etc.
- Search for professional associations, affinity groups, education and training requirements, and required certifications and licenses.
- Assist in collecting graduation outcome information via phone, email, electronic survey, and LinkedIn.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of virtual and in-person events including but not limited to internship, graduate, and career fairs, employer and networking events, and workshops.
