Position purpose
Teach undergraduate aviation students a variety of maintenance subjects, based upon the faculty member’s aviation licensing, experience and interests. Minimum qualification is a Master’s Degree, although a Bachelor’s Degree may suffice if the applicant has full FAA licensing in the aviation maintenance field, and extensive experience in the field, either commercial or military. Subjects include: Quality Management ISO-9000, Human Factors in Maintenance, gas turbine engines, avionics, as well as many more.

Position purpose
Teach a college level laboratory course which includes the topics: Linux Operating System and Robot Operating System (ROS). Be able to program in C++, Python and other current robotic programming languages with high proficiency and familiar with robot and UAV hardware and firmware setup. Be able to develop software to control multiple robots using SLAM algorithm (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping).

Position purpose
Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the Engineering Technology Departments (Master candidates will be considered as non-tenure track). The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Computer Science programs and this candidate will assist department with the development and implementation process of curriculum and courses in a BS in Applied Mathematics, Control Systems, and Automation. Candidates must possess a broad professional background in order to support and expand a wide variety of departmental foundation courses and sub-disciplinary elective offerings in both engineering and computer science.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Having experience in curriculum development, and experience training faculty in curriculum methodology and design.
- Developing courses in applied math discipline including mathematical modeling, computational mathematics, discrete mathematics, Control Systems, and numerical & computational methods.
- Assisting the HSI-STEM Project Director and STEM Pathways Advisor with student monitoring and work with the external evaluator to collect student data of program evaluation.
- Teaching undergraduate courses in Applied Math, Control Systems, and Automation.
- Be knowledgeable in computational method, numerical techniques, discrete math, and data science, and be familiar with computer programming ant application.

Position purpose
The Department of Aviation at Vaughn College in Queens, New York, is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time not to exceed 1,000-hour position as an Instructor of Practice that will begin on September 1, 2023. This position serves as an Instructor of Practice and must have a strong aviation background which includes the following FAA Licenses and/or ratings: Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor-Airplane (CFIA), Certified Flight Instructor -Instrument (CFII), and optional multi-Engine rating or Multi-Engine Instructor. This is a yearly non-tenured appointment.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Teach 3 credit hours per semester in aviation at the undergraduate level.
- Teach the Flight Simulator or LAB courses associated with assigned Lecture courses.
- Assist in the reviewing of flight students at our Part 141 Flight school.
- Conduct safety classes as required.
- Assist in the scheduling of flight students in the sim Lab.
- Conduct flight training at our Part 141 school for students with VA approval.
- Will be required to help with academic advising, assisting with planning, development, and revision of flight and ground school curricula.
- The expectations is that the individual filling this position will participate in departmental, and college committee structures where appropriate
- Advise students and serve on department/college committees.
- You are authorized to conduct individual flight training of non-Vaughn flight students to supplement your income and experience.
- You are required to maintain your Flight Instructor Certification at our Part 141 School as specified on our FAA LOA for RATP Certification.
- Other duties as assigned by either the department chair or Aviation coordinator.

The coordinator for the math/science section will handle the administrative functions of the section.

- Develop schedules for the math/science division
- Following the hiring process detailed in the faculty handbook, oversee the hiring of full-time and adjunct faculty
- Oversee a periodic and sustainable math/science assessment process

- Following the process detailed in the college catalog, when necessary assist with student grade appeals
