About

Raymond Addabbo is a professor in the Arts and Sciences department at Vaughn
College of Aeronautics and Technology. He has developed courses in Linear Algebra, a
three semester physics course for engineers and a course in MATLAB designed to
prepare students for their numerical methods course.

Professor Addabbo earned a Ph.D., in mathematics from the New Jersey Institute of
Technology his dissertation under the guidance of Professor John K. Bechtold is “The
Structure and Stability of Expanding and Converging Near-Stoichiometric Flames.”
Presently, his publications based on his dissertation have ninety one citations.

Currently, he is collaborating with Professor Denis Blackmore and Professor John
Tavantzis from NJIT on the relationship between different definitions of entropy. Their
work was presented at both the 2017 and 2019 SIAM Dynamical Systems Conference
in Salt Lake City, Utah. They have shown that Shannon entropy is a special case of
metric entropy and that with the imposition of certain properties metric entropy is a
special case of topological entropy. In addition to co-editing a special issue of the
journal “Entropy, Aspects of Topological Entropy,” they are expecting their results to
be published soon.
