Vaughn’s aerospace maintenance team represented the College at the Aerospace Maintenance Council competition in Orlando, Florida. Sponsorships from industry partners like PSA Airlines, Inc., American Airlines and Spirit Airlines helped make this opportunity possible for students. FedEx provided special mentorship and spent time with the team over spring break to provide training for the competition.  

At the competition, the team received second place in the college/university category for the Safety Wiring – FedEx and Avionics Extract Fan – FedEx events. They placed in the top five of the college/university categories in Antenna Gasket Installation – Av-DEC, Precision Torque Application – Snap-on, PPG Wing Sealant – PPG and Engine Fan Blade Removal – StandardAero events. Additionally, they finished fifth overall in the Avionics Extract Fan – FedEx competition, sixth overall in the Engine Fan Blade Removal – StandardAero competition and seventh overall in the Safety Wiring – FedEx competition.  

JeremyLiam Lynch ’26, an aviation maintenance student and captain of the team, received a $2,500 Phoebe Omlie scholarship from American Airlines.
