The management department continued their speaker series for the fall semester with John Selden, general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. With more than 30 years of aviation experience, a former military and commercial pilot before joining the field of airport management, Selden has excelled in all facets of aviation, including operational budgeting, customer service, labor relations, aircraft maintenance and operations, facilities management and improvement programs.

The presentation covered the impacts of COVID-19 on airport operations, specifically the needs of its many stakeholders during the COVID-19 pandemic while undergoing expansion and maintaining its dedication to  fortifying the airport’s security platform and enhancing the customer experience at Hartsfield-Jackson. 

More than 60 participants including board member Lysa Scully Leiponis, former General Manager at LaGuardia Airport, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Loretta Alkalay, adjunct professor at the College were in attendance.

Participants also learned that geographic advantages and high-efficiency facilities contribute to the success of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. 

The next speaker series will continue on Friday, October 23 and will feature Christopher SanGiovanni, director of organizational safety at Uber, formerly at JetBlue.
