Students will be required to take courses such as economics, corporate accounting, business communications, and strategic management. In addition, they will work with a faculty adviser to use the 30 elective credits to design a coherent concentration in an area other than airport management, airline management and aviation maintenance management. For example, a student might select courses in aeronautical engineering technology to fashion a concentration in technology management. This flexibility gives students the ability to choose the specialized course of study they want. They can also take advantage of credits earned at other institutions.

Vaughn College’s career services department employs a variety of tools to assist students and alumni in their development as professionals. The department meets and communicates with individuals through appointments, e-mail and phone conversations, providing information, editing and reviewing resumes and helping with the job and internship search process. It implements weekly workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills and job fair etiquette. It organizes job fairs in the fall and spring, each with 40-plus companies, and a graduate school fair in the winter.

The department also networks with companies on behalf of Vaughn students for job and internship opportunities. It manages a private job board website, Vaughn Career Connect, where students and alumni can post resumes and apply for positions. Employers registered on the site can post jobs as well as search and review student and alumni resumes for potential candidates for open positions.
