Melissa TeixeiraExecutive Director, Opportunity Programs
Melissa Teixeira has more than 12 years of experience in higher education and began her career as a guidance counselor. Teixeira currently serves as the executive director of opportunity programs which includes the Higher Education Opportunity Program which serves academic and economically disadvantaged students, the Science and Technology Entry Program for 7th to 12th grade New York State residents who belong to a minority group underrepresented in STEM and licensed professions, the Foster Youth College Success Initiative for foster youth and orphans and the federal TRIO program, Upward Bound, which serves low-economic and first-generation students from August Martin and Grover Cleveland High Schools.
Mrs. Teixeira is a current Ed.D. student at Long Island University in the education leadership track and holds a master’s degree education for school counseling from Long Island University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Stony Brook University.
