Engineering About Gears Logo

The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in electrical engineering includes many aspects of electrical components and systems, ranging from passive analog circuits, digital logic circuits, active hybrid semiconductor chips, and very large-scale integrated circuits (VLSI), to the advanced control and communication systems that span the applications from domestic home appliances to aerospace/ military systems. The applications also include mass media broadcast systems, digital home entertainment systems, smart cell phone and pervasive personal networks, intelligent robots, GPS satellites, active array radars and stealth aircrafts or guided missiles.

In addition, the EE program is constantly adapted to the ever-changing industrial needs by providing updated and advanced courses to the students who will enter the field of electronics and related industries.

The curriculum in electrical engineering emphasizes both the fundamentals of electronics and systems, and addresses the multidisciplinary nature of the field. The course of study trains students to use analytical procedures to solve specific problems; accompanied by hands-on laboratory exercises to examine electrical phenomena and ultimately to design the systems for performing the specific functions set by the project objectives.

Students in this program are required to take technical electives that gives them freedom to concentrate in one of the following areas:

  • Advanced microelectronic circuits design
  • Power systems and machinery
  • DSP and avionics applications (Radar, GPS, autopilot, or more)
  • Electronic communication and network Systems
  • Control systems (robotics and artificial intelligence)
  • Digital and computer systems (computer engineering)

See our Online Catalog for the full curriculum including program objectives and student outcomes.

Vaughn College’s career services department employs a variety of tools to assist students and alumni in their development as professionals. The department meets and communicates with individuals through appointments, e-mail and phone conversations, providing information, editing and reviewing resumes and helping with the job and internship search process. It implements weekly workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills and job fair etiquette. It organizes job fairs in the fall and spring, each with 40-plus companies, and a graduate school fair in the winter.

The department also networks with companies on behalf of Vaughn students for job and internship opportunities. It manages a private job board website, Vaughn Career Connect, where students and alumni can post resumes and apply for positions. Employers registered on the site can post jobs as well as search and review student and alumni resumes for potential candidates for open positions. For more information on career opportunities visit Vaughn career connect here.
