The electronic engineering technology associate degree in avionics gives students the necessary and highly-demanded technical foundation needed for this field. Is electronic engineering technology a career you are considering? Our program will allow you to pursue the field for the first time, build upon your previous education or give you the opportunity to move on to a bachelor’s level degree in engineering. Many Vaughn associate students in the avionics program move on to our bachelor’s level degrees in avionics and other areas of engineering.
Avionics encompasses electronic communication, navigation, radar, surveillance and flight control systems. These systems have all become more complex, integrated and computer-controlled, and our students are taught to be adaptive problem-solvers―all with the knowledge and experience to manage them.
Student learning outcomes, objectives of this degree program and graduation and employment data are available here.
The educational objectives for this degree are developed to prepare students for post-graduation activities. These program objectives are intended to produce graduates who:
Obtain careers as avionics/electronics technicians in positions requiring avionics/electronics design, development, installation, maintenance and repair
Are academically prepared for FCC license, professional and/or continued education
Conduct themselves as responsible members of society and understand the need for continuous professional improvement
The demand for avionics technicians to service and maintain electronic communication, navigation, surveillance and flight control systems is increasing thus placing electronic engineering technology careers in high-demand. Our courses are designed so that students will develop the skills needed to be successful in this field.
Starting from the fundamentals of electrical engineering technology and avionics, our curriculum will take you through the study of aircraft and electronic systems that are defining the future of avionics technology. Prepare yourself for an avionics technician degree with courses designed to teach you avionics and electronics design, development, installation, maintenance and repair.
