Cybersecurity Resources and Awareness

The Cybersecurity and Cyber Defense Center promotes cybersecurity awareness and responsible technology use across Vaughn College. In coordination with institutional information technology services, the center supports efforts to educate students, faculty and staff on cybersecurity risks, best practices and shared responsibility for protecting information and systems.

Through centralized resources and guidance, the center helps reinforce a culture of cybersecurity awareness supporting academic, administrative and operational activities across the institution.

Institutional cybersecurity resources

Vaughn College provides institutional cybersecurity resources designed to support safe and secure technology use, including:

  • Information technology security resources outlining institutional policies, procedures and protections 
  • Cybersecurity awareness guidance for students, faculty and staff, including best practices for password management, data protection and responsible system use
  • Important safety Information related to acceptable use, account security, and incident reporting

These resources support ongoing cybersecurity awareness and help members of the Vaughn College community understand their role in maintaining a secure computing environment.

Students at Vaughn College are encouraged to explore a range of national and professional cybersecurity resources that support skill development, career exploration, and experiential learning beyond the classroom. These resources complement academic coursework and provide opportunities for students to engage with the broader cybersecurity community.

  • Cybersecurity competitions and challenges, such as capture-the-flag (CTF) events and national cyber challenges that promote hands-on problem solving and teamwork

In addition, students have access to industry-aligned learning platforms through Vaughn College’s participation in Cisco Networking Academy, AWS Academy, and Oracle Academy. These platforms support hands-on learning in networking, cloud computing, data systems, and security fundamentals, reinforcing practical skills aligned with industry standards and workforce expectations.

The Cybersecurity and Cyber Defense Center also connects students to external cybersecurity initiatives and competition opportunities as they become available, including curated resources from national cybersecurity education and training organizations.
