What is Distance Learning?
Distance Learning is a unique method that allows students, in various geographic locations, to participate in the College's programs using computer and video technologies.
What methods does the College use to deliver classes?
The College uses teleconferencing and the web to deliver its programs to aviation students and professionals. The teleconferencing method employs a live, face- to- face class environment linking conference rooms equipped with compatible video technology. The web-based class method uses the WebCt online learning platform to deliver classes to students anywhere and at anytime. Additionally, telecourses are made available for selected class offerings.
Where are the teleconferences classes held?
The College currently offers our programs in partnership with both United Technologies Corporation and The Boeing Company. Distance classes are also held at UTC companies such as Sikorsky Aircraft, Pratt Whitney, and Hamilton Sundstrand at locations in Hartford, Stratford, Middletown and Windsor Locks, Connecticut and Rockford, Illinois. The Boeing Company sites include St. Louis, Missouri.
Teleconference classes are conveniently scheduled around each company's work shift. Semesters are scheduled in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
Expansion to additional corporate sites requires video room availability and a minimum of four students per class.

Degree programs available in a distance learning format are the Associates in Applied Science (AAS) in Aviation Maintenance; Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aviation Maintenance or BS in Maintenance Management as well as the Bachelor of Science in General Management. These programs are offered in a teleconferencing format and require access to appropriate technology.
