There are four types of student organizations at the College: student clubs, professional societies, honor societies and intramural sports. Most organizations meet weekly during the common hour (11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday and Thursday). The coordinator of student activities and leadership may be contacted for exact meeting times and locations.
Amateur Radio Club
This club is designed to teach and train future ham radio operators. The club will network with other ham radio operators throughout the United States and attempt overseas communications. All club members are encouraged to obtain a ham radio license to operate equipment. The club will continue to teach its members the ethics and regulations of ham radio operations.
Caribbean Culture Club
This club was established by students for the purpose of creating a medium in which its members could unite as one voice. The Caribbean Culture Club aims to share and celebrate the diversity of cultures of its members. Although most members are of Caribbean descent, this club welcomes people of all backgrounds.
Hispanic Society of Aeronautical Engineers (HSAE)
This organization was established by students to bring together students of different backgrounds and assist them in obtaining their goals within the aviation industry and at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology. Among the club's objectives is to promote awareness of Hispanic culture among the HSAE's members and throughout the College community.
Flight Team
Students who are pilots, as well as others interested in flight competitions, are eligible to join the flight team. The flight team is dedicated to promoting a variety of flying and ground activities, as well as competing in flight and ground events for such organizations as the National Intercollegiate Flight Association.
Aviation Editors Reaching Out Association (Club AERO)
The purpose of this organization is to express the views and concerns of the student body through the use of effective writing in a student newspaper. The organization also promotes the importance of communication through aviation-related journalism.
Student Christian Fellowship
The College has a local chapter of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, USA. This organization practices and promotes the teachings of the Christian religion. The Christian Fellowship generally meets once a week for prayer groups and other social/spiritual events. All students, regardless of religious affiliation are welcome to join this organization.
Professional Societies
Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology has active chapters of four national professional societies. Membership offers students the opportunity to expand their knowledge through interaction with industry professionals and to establish lasting professional contacts. The student chapters sponsor industry-related field trips and lectures, as well as social activities for all students.
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
The AIAA is a nationwide society of professional aerospace specialists such as aeronautical engineers, test pilots and electronic engineers. The organization was created to exchange intelligence, standardize practices and encourage and enlighten young people on the career options in this field. Since 1947, the College has had a student branch, which actively participates in intercollegiate design competitions, aircraft manufacturing plant tours and College functions.
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
The IEEE is an international organization established to encourage interest in the field of electricity and electronics. All members receive the IEEE journal and are encouraged to attend the annual convention. Guest speakers are invited to lecture on various topics of interest.
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
The SAE is a national professional society whose members meet to discuss new and advanced technologies in the aviation industry. The SAE conducts field trips to aviation/aerospace-related corporations, participates in nationwide competitions and sponsors many student activities.
Women in Aviation - International
Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology' chapter of Women in Aviation International is designed to help women integrate into what has traditionally been a male dominated field.
American Association of Airport Executives, Inc. (AAAE)
The College has a local chapter of this national organization. Among its goals, the AAAE works to promote, develop and instill professional attitudes in students who are engaged in the study of airport development and administration.

Honor Society / Tau Alpha Pi
The national honor society for engineering technologies is Tau Alpha Pi. It honors students who have shown academic excellence as well as the character that exemplifies the Code of Ethics of Engineers.
Intramural Sports and Fitness
The intramural sports and fitness program is specifically tailored to the needs of the student body. It is designed to help students develp physical fitness, mental health, good nutrition, competitiveness and leadership skills while enhancing a healthy spirit of fiar play and team unity. Intramural programs include tournaments in soccer, basketball, volleyball and flag football. All programs are co-ed.
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) serves and represents the student body through effective, responsible leadership. Under the purview of the director of student affairs, the student government acts as a liaison between the College's administration and the student body, working toward the betterment of student welfare and morale.
The SGA works in conjunction with other student organizations, as well as the student affairs staff, to coordinate many extracurricular and co-curricular student activities. All student organizations operate under the guidance of the Student Government Association and are expected to abide by its constitution.
Any matriculated student registered and in good standing at the College is eligible to be a member of the SGA. The executive board of the SGA consists of six elected officers: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, student activities committee chair and academic affairs committee chair. Officers are elected every spring through a college-wide election. All registered students are allowed and encouraged to vote in the SGA elections.
The SGA also includes one representative from each curriculum, appointed by the executive board and one representative from each recognized student organization, appointed by the respective organization.
