Vaughn to Honor FAA Regional Administrator at Commencement

Vaughn College will honor Carmine Gallo, Eastern Regional Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), with an honorary doctor of science degree at its 2012 Commencement ceremony on Saturday (May 19).

Born in New York City and raised on Long Island, Gallo began his career with the FAA in 1981 as an air traffic controller at the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility. He since has served in various managerial positions, including air traffic manager for the Tactical Operations Program Office at the Eastern and New England regions; tower supervisor at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY; and area manager for the LaGuardia, Kennedy and Newark Liberty airport areas.

Gallo assumed his current position on February 1, 2009. The Eastern Region comprises New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. and oversees operations at some of the world's busiest airports, including New York's three major facilities, Washington's Dulles International and Ronald Reagan National airports and Baltimore/Washington International Airport.
