Vaughn Professor to Address Gathering of Scholars
October 13, 2011
Vaughn College Professor Jeff Surovell will present a paper titled "Post-Soviet Russia and the Wars in the Former Yugoslavia: The First Time as Deception, the Second as Farce" at the Mid-Atlantic World History Association (MAWHA) conference at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. next month.
The conference, titled "Society, Technology and War in World History," brings together scholars, researchers and teachers from higher education institutions dedicated to studying and teaching world history. It is planned for Nov. 4-5.
Prof. Surovell's paper uses the backdrop of the Yugoslavia wars of the 1990s to show how the goals of post-Soviet Russia might have more in line with Western goals than was originally thought.
