Vaughn Professor Interviewed on Emergency Jet Landing
November 2, 2011
The miracle landing of a Lot Airlines 767 in Poland reverberated all the way to Vaughn College on Tuesday (Nov. 1) when Dr. Maxine Lubner, chair of the aviation and management departments, was interviewed by Channel 4 news reporter DeMarco Morgan.
Dr. Lubner, an expert in aviation safety and psychology, shared her insights with Morgan in a piece that lasted almost two minutes.
Lot Airlines Flight 016, which took off from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, miraculously landed on it s belly after a hydraulics system failure undermined the landing gear. The pilot, Capt. Tadeusz Wrona, has drawn comparisons to Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, who landed a US Airways jet in the Hudson River in 2009.
The Lot pilots "got an A" for landing all 231 on board without injury, according to Dr. Lubner. See the full interview here.
