Vaughn Player Receives Conference Honor

Vaughn College forward Al-Ameen Kabba, a freshman from Springfield Gardens, was named Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference Basketball Rookie of the Week for his performances in the Warriors' opening three games.
Kabba had 18 points and 18 rebounds in his collegiate debut against Culinary Institute on Nov. 6. He was 8-for-8 shooting in the Warriors' 85-40 victory. He added 16 points in the Warriors' 79-30 win over Webb Institute on Nov. 10, again on 8-for-8 shooting.
For the three games, including a loss Nov. 7 to Berkeley College, Kabba averaged 17 points and 12-plus rebounds while shooting a sizzling 88 percent from the floor.
