Vaughn Honors its Top Students
February 9, 2012
Acknowledged with enthusiasm and pride, Vaughn College's top scholars were recognized at its semiannual Academic Honors ceremony on Thursday (Feb. 9). A lobby full of students, parents, faculty and staff cheered the accomplishments of more than 300 students named to either the Faculty's List, Dean's List or President's List.
"There's a great quote from the Irish poet William Butler Yeats," Senior Vice President Dr. Sharon DeVivo said. " 'Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.' Boy, is this group on fire."
The 45-minute ceremony recognized those students whose grade-point averages were between 3.50 and 3.67 (Faculty's List); 3.68 and 3.84 (Dean's List); and 3.85 and 4.0 (President's List). Students received individual certificates to recognize their achievements.
"It's hard work but a night like tonight just shows that it can pay off," junior avionics honors student Clinton Constantine said. "It's really rewarding."
